A&R Worldwide Review Feb 2004:
IRELAND’S LAURA ISIBOR CONTINUED FOCUS OF INTENSE PUBLISHER AND A&R
INTEREST:
Irish
teen Laura Isibor continues to create a groundswell of international A&R and publisher interest. Several U.S. majors have already
flownout to Dublin to meet with the teen and her management. Infact, a number
of major labels and publishing companies have already put forward offers to
ink Isibor; however, don’t expect anything to be firmed up until after
Isibor showcases in Los Angeles and New York later this month. A vast number
of East Coast and West Coast label and publishing heads have committed to
flying Isibor out for private showcases for their staffs.
A&R Worldwide’s Sat Bisla states, “I have not seen such a large
amount of interest for an unsigned artist on an international scale in a long
time. Isibor emanates a strong creative energy and delivers
emotionally-charged songs; she has the potential to sell millions of records
worldwide. When you have a Grammy Award winning songwriter such as Diane
Warren highly impressed by the likes of Isibor you know you’re working with
a very special artist”
Laura
Isibor is an exceptional vocalist, songwriter, musician and a
legitimate talent, who possesses an amazing soulful voice: big, supple and
unique. Despite the fact that she's barely 16 years old she has the kind of
formidable stage presence it takes to entertain any audience. Laura who is
from the heart of Dublin has it all — a strong and beautiful voice, the
ability to write honest and catchy melodies and overwhelming prowess playing
piano. To be at a live performance is a must where all present will witness a
young woman whose potential as an artist is guaranteed to ensure success for
years to come.
Winner of the 2 FM Song Contest
Laura is already creating a lot of interest and offers from US, UK
labels. Since winning the contest in “Vicar Street” Feb 2003 (her first
live gig ever), Laura has been busy writing and recoding at Silver Wood Studios with Irish
producer Gavin Rolston.
Last month Laura was invited
to Munich, Germany to join multi-platinum selling Reamonn on their sell out
"The Great Beautiful Sky" European Tour 2004, for two nights. Although
Laura has only been performing for the last eleven month she has already
supported the legendary Terry Callier & Jamie Cullum and in December Laura
headlined in Whelan’s. Laura’s next performances will be in LA & New
York later this month when she performers for a select number for US label
and publishing companies.
Laura is also nominated for two Meteor Irish Music Awards (Best New Act 2004 -
Best New Hope 2004).
